Safe mooring in Malta was guaranteed when they received its first ever cargo of LNG in January 2017 at the Delimara terminal and power station. The special element of the occasion is the fact that we supplied to both the FSU and the jetty.
The LNG carrier Galea docked beside the FSU Armada LNG Mediterrana in the Marsaxlokk Bay in Malta in January 2017. The arrival of the first LNG cargo is a part of the commissioning process of the Armada LNG Mediterrana and the new power station, built by ElectroGas.
The conversion job has been lauded by experts who explained that the FSU has the highest levels of security standards and will provide a reliable, supply of gas. The FSU will deliver LNG to the onshore regasification plant feeding natural gas to the 200 MW power station during the entire project life of 18 years.
For the FSU Armada LNG Mediterrana we supplied seven double Quick Release Mooring hook units with capstans. The hook were integrated with Electrical Remote Control and Mooring Load Monitoring.
For the jetty of the Delimara Power Plant we supplied 10 Quick Release Mooring Hook units. All units have a SWL of 110 ton and are integrated with Mooring Load Monitoring to keep a close eye on the mooring forces. Two units have an integrated capstan and we also supplied a Berthing Approach System and Environmental Monitoring System.
