Mooring units for LNG FSRU in Russia

Early 2015 Gazprom ordered the Floating Storage & Regasification Unit (FSRU) at Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in Ulsan (South Korea). The FSRU combines LNG storage of max capacity 174,100 cbm and natural gas processing of max send out 500 mmscf/day capabilities with superior sea-going speed up to 19.5 knots, energy efficiency and ice characteristics.

This enables the FSRU’s flexible utilization as a regasification plant, an LNG shuttle or a conventional LNG carrier depending on the energy security situation in the Kaliningrad Region. The FSRU used to supply natural gas to the Kaliningrad Region of Russia.

For this FSRU of Gazprom Mampaey Offshore Industries supplied eight double Quick Release Mooring Hook units of 135 ton (non-ex) and two single Quick Release Mooring Hook units of 135 ton all integrated with capstans. The hooks are integrated with a Mooring Load Monitoring System and an Electric Remote Control System.

This delivery was transported at the end of November 2016 and The FSRU will be delivered in November 2017. All hooks are manufactured of special material that is resistant to the -40 Cº degrees environment.
