Port of Fujairah operational for VLCC vessels

The VLCC Berth 1 at the Port of Fulairah in the United Arab Emirates recently commenced operation. The first vessel was already accepted for cargo discharge. The second vessel for loading was scheduled to arrive at the port mid-September. The jetty continued to be in operation.

The maneuver basin and alongside berth are dredged to -26 meters. It can accommodate Length Overall of between 240 to 344 meters and deadweight tonnage of 60,000 – 330,000. The berth has Quick Release Mooring Hooks for up to 20 lines: 8 breast lines fore, 8 aft and 4 spring lines. The jetty can accommodate the VLCCs, Aframax and Suezmax vessels.

Mampaey Offshore Industries supplied four triple mooring hook units with capstans and four quadruple Quick Release Mooring Hook units with capstans. All hooks having a safe working load of 150 ton. The hooks are integrated with an Electric Remote Control, a Mooring Load Monitoring and a Berthing Approach System.
